Xbox recently delayed Starfield and Redfall from 2022. As an Xbox fan, the Barron 2022 landscape continues to concern me. In hindsight, I still don’t understand, with the current extended Halo infinite seasons, why they didn’t delay Halo out from late 2021 to the beginning of 2022. They could have matched it up with the show’s release, which, as the Witcher show has shown, can help expand your IP. Game development is complex, but the continued mismanagement of the IP is concerning. I would be surprised if some of the games announced in 2018, Perfect Dark and Fable, came out in 2023; they feel more like 2024. With such a long development cycle, the microscope will be on Xbox in the upcoming years. Xbox fans can’t make excuses for the upcoming slate of releases.
