As someone who has always loved Looney Tunes, I’m always game for a good movie with these characters, and Coyote vs. Acme delivered. The humor worked surprisingly well for me as an adult who grew up watching Looney Tunes; even though slapstick doesn’t always get me, I found myself laughing a lot, especially at the How to Wait Around Dramatically book gag. I loved all the Easter eggs and callbacks to the old cartoons, especially Daffy going back to his completely unhinged, loony roots from some of his earliest cartoons. I usually don’t care for the human characters in these types of movies, but Will Forte and John Cena were both great and actually added to the movie instead of distracting from the Looney Tunes. Spoilers: I genuinely teared up when the court said nobody cared about Wile E., only for the Road Runner to call him his friend and ask when he was coming back. The movie really understands why people still love these characters after all these years, which makes it even crazier that Warner Bros. almost prevented anyone from seeing it.
