Ninja Writing Udemy Course

The Ninja writing course at Udemy helped me think about writing differently. The course had four different levels, narrative, paragraphs, sentences, and words. Each section gave some techniques to incorporate into your writing.

The narrative section was about writing down the points and organizing them beforehand. The overview ensures the piece covers everything desired while maintaining some organization. The organization of ideas can also help you think of your audience and your intention, which can help you think through writer’s block. INTENT +AUDIENCE = CONTENT + TONE + PACE.

Paragraphs can help with comprehension. They are visual cues to keep track of people. Paragraphs can separate points, elaborations, illustrations, counterpoints, and sections. You want to avoid super-thick paragraphs. A long paragraph can make the reader lose comprehension.

I struggle with sentences. I tend not to tighten sentences enough. When the hot air and redundancy are removed, we see the point quicker, and the sentences are sharper. Also, ensuring that you don’t give readers whiplash is a powerful tip. Whiplash is where you add too many ideas in one sentence.

At the word level, you want to avoid technical and abstract words. Choosing colorful words can enhance the writing and make it feel less redundant. In business communication, people tend to add too many stressors to emails. You only want to use them when completely necessary.

The ninja writing course gave several tactics to improve your writing. The course isn’t very long and has many exercises. I think it is well worth the price tag, especially if you get it on sale.
