The Amazing Spider-man Review

I recently rewatched The Amazing Spider-man from 2012. Though the film isn’t my favorite Spider-man movie, there are some positive parts. The film’s biggest issue was setting up all the espionage and linking Peters’s parents. I didn’t find the plot point exciting and always hoped they would move on.

Andrew Garfield was good as Peter Parker, but the writing made him more of an emo-ish boy than a nerd. In the portrayal, he was intelligent, though more of a skateboard kid, which doesn’t come off as Peter to me. One aspect that bothered me was Peter having to sneak into the science tour at Oscorp instead of being a student on tour. Isn’t Peter supposed to be one of the brightest in his class?

Peter and Gwen’s relationship in the film was a redeeming quality. They partially covered how the villain felt like a rehash of William Defoe’s Green Goblin. I prefer the Lizard to be more animalistic and not always have Kurt Connor’s arguing with himself. Spider-man versus the Lizard had some scenes giving me goosebumps as a Spiderman fan. The action was fast and a good portrayal of Spiderman fights and how intimidating the Lizard can be. Some scenes clearly were made for 3D, as this film came out in the 3D movie craze. It wasn’t too distracting, but I did notice it.

The mysterious figures and organizations having a grand conspiracy with Peter and his parents didn’t feel right to me. With some redeeming action and the relationship portions of the Movie, amazing Spider-man is an okay, not a good film. I recommend it to anyone who wants to see Spider-man action but can look past some annoying aspects.
